KISS OF LIFE Accused of Capitalizing on BLACKPINK’s Popularity — Supporters Defend the Group

The controversy began when a post drew attention to KISS OF LIFE covering several songs by BLACKPINK, including popular solo tracks. Notable covers such as “Whistle,”Rosé’s “Gone,”and Lisa’s “Money”highlighted their repertoire. The group has also covered tracks from other YG Entertainment artists, including 2NE1.

Some fans have started referring to KISS OF LIFE as the “4th-Generation BLACKPINK,”while Natty, a member of the group, has garnered media attention with the label “the next Lisa.”

In spite of these comparisons, many netizens remain skeptical about the accusations. Fans have voiced their support for KISS OF LIFE, criticizing the negative comments: “The reasons female idols get criticized are so ridiculous… They haven’t done anything wrong, just covered songs by senior groups. Yet they’re facing hate for days. It’s absurd,” “KISS OF LIFE is clearly gaining popularity, and people are trying to say they’re copying BLACKPINK just because they’ve covered some of their songs. It’s honestly laughable,” “Did a bunch of anti-fans suddenly appear? These posts criticizing KISS OF LIFE came out of nowhere. Even BLACKPINK fans are saying it’s unnecessary. It’s all so exaggerated,” “I just wish they’d ease up on the YG covers. Some fans are uncomfortable with how often they cover YG songs, and the group lineup does resemble BLACKPINK a bit.”

Despite the criticism, it seems many believe that the backlash is unwarranted and rather a reflection of KISS OF LIFE’s growing popularity.
