KMF Regrets Unilateral Contract Termination and Return of Former FIFTY FIFTY Members

On October 25, the Korean Management Federation (KMF) issued a public statement addressing the serious issue of contract tampering, particularly referencing the case involving their member company, Attrakt. KMF remarked, “We acknowledge the gravity of the tampering incident from last year and express our apprehension regarding this matter.”

In their statement, KMF articulated that, “Tampering represents a grave infringement that jeopardizes the integrity of contractual agreements and diminishes trust across the entertainment sector. The recent actions of three former members of FIFTY FIFTY, who have escaped repercussions for their involvement in tampering, are deeply disappointing. These individuals have resumed their careers with a different agency as if no infractions had occurred.”

The federation further stated, “Such actions contravene fundamental contractual values and basic common sense, leading to a significant breach of trust among all parties concerned. The unilateral termination of a contract via tampering, followed by attempts to engage with a new agency without facing legal or ethical accountability, raises serious questions about fairness in the industry.”

KMF emphasized the seriousness of the issue, condemning any illegal maneuvers aimed at invalidating contracts through tampering. They urged every artist to take responsibility for their conduct and to respect the legal and ethical commitments associated with their contracts. While artists have the right to pursue their freedom, this should be done within the parameters of fair practices and contractual agreements.

In related news, FIFTY FIFTY made their debut as a four-member ensemble in November 2022. Their hit single, “Cupid,” achieved notable success, first entering Billboard’s Hot 100 at position 100 and advancing to as high as number 17, marking a significant “miracle of a small agency.”

The situation took a turn when all four members lodged a dispute against their management, Attrakt, resulting in internal strife. Only Keena chose to retract her appeal before a decision was made, opting to rejoin the group. The court ultimately rejected the members’ request to halt their exclusive contracts. Following this, Attrakt restructured the group, expanding it to five members with the addition of Moon Chanelle, Yewon, Hana, and Athena.

Meanwhile, the ex-members including Saena, Aran, and Sio have recently signed with Massive V&C, a new label affiliated with IOK Company, and are gearing up for their re-debut under the name Ablume.
