Fans are calling for the show “Knowing Bros”to stop airing after a recent indirect mention of TWICE Momo was deemed offensive.
The recent episode of JTBC’s entertainment show, “Knowing Brothers“, which was broadcasted on June 15, featured the theme of “transforming into different personas during day and night.”
During the interview, Heechul emphasized Kim Young Chul’s “day”and “nightlife,”while conversing with guests Lee Jeong Eun, Choi Jin Hyuk, and Jung Eunji, including Lee Jeong Eun, Choi Jin Hyuk and Jung Eunji.
“I’m curious about Young Chul’s life. He speaks several languages and is intelligent. His brain is extraordinary. I want to live like a student while learning smartly like this.”
Upon hearing this, Kim Young Chul reciprocated and admitted to feeling envious of the lifestyle enjoyed by Super Junior. He said:
“I really want to live like Heechul.”
The idol proudly lifted his chin and swaggered, thinking it was all part of his natural charm. However, he was unaware that the next line would reveal his hidden “night”activities.
“As Young Chul stated,”
“He met girl groups, kissed them and hung out until 3 to 4 in the morning.”
After hearing what was said, Heechul was confused and felt embarrassed. He quickly stood up from his seat and started laughing uncontrollably.
As the broadcast continued, it evolved into a source of entertainment for the cast members and guests who were tasked with roleplaying within that concept. However, when it reached K-pop fans, particularly ONCEs, their disapproval of the show and Kim Young Chul was vocalized.
Despite not explicitly mentioning anyone, it was widely known that Kim Heechul had previously been in a romantic relationship with TWICE’s Momo, who is known as the “Nation’s Girl Group.”
In January 2020, their relationship became public and both parties acknowledged that they were romantically involved with shared feelings.
Despite being celebrated, the couple eventually parted ways in July 2021, after being together for 1 year and 6 months.
Therefore, when it was revealed that the male idol had met with girl groups and was seen kissing and hanging out with them until 4 am, viewers immediately linked this behavior to his ex-girlfriend Momo.
Despite being an online forum, K-netizens were still outraged by Young Chul’s offensive and impolite comments, resulting in suggestions for the show to be discontinued.
A few of the comments are:
- “Are you guys crazy?”
- “Why are your words and actions so vulgar and cheap?”
- “Ah, I really don’t want to see them on TV for some reason.”
- “It’s so rude.”
- “It’s already been a few years since they broke up so why are you guys being like that?”
- “Oh, it’s ‘Knowing Bros’ again. When are you guys being abolished?”
- “Ah, I wish you would stop mentioning it.”
