Eiichiro Oda Speaks Out Following One Piece Manga’s Recent Hiatus Announcement

Eiichiro Oda, the mastermind behind One Piece, has released his initial thoughts following the unexpected announcement of a hiatus for the manga.

The One Piece series is currently immersed in the captivating Land of the Gods Arc, with a portion of the Straw Hat crew navigating a peculiar kingdom composed of Lego-like blocks, giving it an authentic kingdom aesthetic.

In a surprising twist, it is uncovered that the ruler of this land is none other than Road, the navigator of the New Giant Pirates, helmed by Hajrudin. This brief storyline will transition into the much-anticipated Elbaf Arc, where the crew is poised to encounter fresh hurdles.

However, the production of One Piece will pause for two weeks following Chapter 1130, allowing Oda some necessary downtime to generate new concepts.

As per a report from a One Piece fan account, Eiichiro Oda stated in this week’s issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, “I’ve been watching a drama called Omusubi to unwind after chapter deadlines. Its cheerful and bright vibe is very soothing!!”

Omusubi, translating to onigiri, is a 2024 Japanese drama following a young woman navigating through the challenges of the Heisei and Reiwa eras. With a positive and resilient spirit, she strives to live life to the fullest despite outside perceptions, all while aspiring to become a nutritionist.

In response to Oda’s comment, one fan humorously pointed out that “he’s a fan of Hashimoto Kanna, who also happens to be a fan of One Piece.”Hashimoto Kanna stars in the leading role of the drama.

“Just when we were speculating if Oda was getting into Vinland Saga, it turns out he was preoccupied with something else,” joked another user.

With the conclusion of the Egghead arc, you can read up on why Egghead is hailed as one of the best arcs to date.
