Konohamaru’s Potential Powerup in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Initiated by a Rival

Despite being a fan-favorite character in the past, Konohamaru Sarutobi has taken on a less significant role in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga. He now serves as an advisor to the Hidden Leaf Village’s new Hokage, but his abilities in battle have greatly diminished.

As seen in the battles against the God Trees, it is clear that the character who was expected to succeed Naruto as Hokage was forced to step aside for his students to confront the main antagonist of the series. However, the mere fact that Konohamaru, as a student of Naruto, was being groomed for the position of Hokage implies that he will receive a significant power boost in the future of the series.

Consequently, a Boruto fan has proposed a theory in which Konohamaru’s strength increases as a result of a new rival. Although the theory may seem far-fetched and unlikely, it would be intriguing to see such developments unfold.

According to a popular theory on Reddit by a fan of Boruto, u/MitsukiOtsutsuki, Konohamaru’s battles against powerful foes in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga have highlighted the need for him to receive a power-up in order to remain a relevant character in the story. It is evident that God Tree Matsuri has singled him out as her target, making it likely that he will face an attack from the God Tree in the near future. This possibility calls for a development that will grant Konohamaru a strong enough power-up to save his comrade.

Despite some fans believing that Sage Mode is a viable option, a theory proposed by u/MitsukiOtsutsuki suggests otherwise. According to the theory, Konohamaru’s path to becoming stronger involves having a rival, which in his case is Log, Orochimaru’s synthetic human and older clone brother of Mitsuki. This is because throughout history, every memorable shinobi has had a rival, making it a crucial aspect of growth. Therefore, this development could greatly benefit Konohamaru.

The possible explanation for Log’s existence in the Boruto anime’s episode 175 is due to Orochimaru’s implication to Konohamaru. According to u/MitsukiOtsutsuki, it is likely that Konohamaru will sacrifice one of his eyes to protect his rival or someone else, and in return, Log may give him one of his Sage Mode eyes. This situation bears a striking resemblance to the past of Kakashi and Obito.

Apparently, Log was incapable of accessing Sage Mode, however the fan speculates that the synthetic human may possess a flawed version of Sage Mode, granting him the same yellow Byakugan-like eyes that Mitsuki displayed during his Sage Transformation.

According to u/MitsukiOtsutsuki, Konohamaru’s eyes may possess unique powers as they bear a striking resemblance to the yellow Byakugan eyes of Momoshiki and Urashiki in the series. This dojutsu could potentially grant Konohamaru new jutsu and abilities, potentially leading him to become the Kakashi Hatake of the Boruto manga series.

These advancements could potentially elevate Konohamaru above his grandfather Hiruzen Sarutobi and other highly esteemed shinobi in the Boruto universe. As a result, he would become one of the most formidable characters in the series, capable of taking on Matsuri in a highly anticipated battle that fans would be eager to see.
