On September 15, 2024, the highly anticipated KonoSuba season 3 announced a new OVA via the official X account for the series. However, details regarding the number of episodes or the animation studio working on the OVA series were not disclosed.
This franchise has gained immense popularity, with its latest anime installment (season 3) having debuted in Spring 2024, securing a position as one of the top series of the anime season.
New OVA for KonoSuba Season 3 Revealed
The announcement for the OVA was simple and featured a visual confirming its release. This official reveal took place during the Kono Subarashii Radio ni Shukufuku wo! Public Record Special live radio broadcast.
While the live event and announcement tweet did not clarify the episode count, animation studio, or additional details about the OVA, it’s anticipated that it will adapt select chapters from the original material.
Fans can also catch the live announcement in a clip uploaded to the Kadokawa YouTube channel, one of the producers of KonoSuba season 3. The announcement occurs around the 33-34 minute mark in the video.
The main voice cast for the series consists of Kazuma Satou, voiced by Jun Fukushima (Gabiru from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime), Aqua, voiced by Sora Amamiya (Nazuna from Call of the Night), Megumin, voiced by Rie Takahashi (Ai Hoshino from Oshi no Ko), and Darkness, voiced by Ai Kayano (Slyphy from Mushoku Tensei).
Despite the voice casting remaining consistent, the animation studio for the series has varied across installments. The first two seasons were animated by Studio Deen, while a movie was produced by J.C. Staff, and KonoSuba season 3 was brought to life by Studio Drive.
Takaomi Kanasaki, known for his role as storyboard officer in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, took on the chief director role for KonoSuba season 3, although he directed all previous related projects in the series.
Summary of KonoSuba Season 3
Following their victory over Sylvia and rescuing the world from disaster, Kazuma’s party continued their adventures. However, Kazuma developed new trauma stemming from his encounter with Sylvia.
