On November 20, 2024, justice was served as Hong was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for what the court deemed “retaliatory murder.” The presiding judge remarked, “The defendant located the victim while watching his stream, and it took only 17 seconds to kill him.” Notably, Hong had meticulously planned the attack, purchasing a 30-centimeter sashimi knife the day before and renting a vehicle for his escape.
