K-Pop Girl Group Member Denies Allegations of Betraying Korea for China: “I Haven’t Abandoned Korea, Please Stop Criticizing Me”

On the October 16th episode of MBC’s “Radio Star,”guests Kim Byungman, Kim Jaejoong, Kim Dongjun, and Cao Lu joined the lively discussion.

During the show, Cao Lu disclosed, “I didn’t receive any appearance fee for this. My contract in Korea ended four years ago, prompting my return to China. Out of the blue, I got the opportunity to work in Korea again, so I eagerly came back. I even inquired at the immigration office, ‘Am I allowed to film without a visa?’ and they confirmed I could, as long as I wasn’t being compensated.”

Cao Lu also shared her experience with live commerce in China to fund her group’s reunion efforts. “I sold cushions from Korean cosmetic brands and managed to generate around 1 billion KRW in sales over two years,”she stated. This revelation caught the hosts off guard, and she quickly clarified, “That’s the sales figure, not what I actually earned,”which prompted laughter in the studio.

Upon returning to China after her time with Fiestar, Cao Lu faced accusations of “backstabbing.”She expressed her disappointment by saying, “After my contract ended, when I went back to China, many people commented, ‘Why did Cao Lu vanish?’ and ‘Did she betray her agency to go to China?’”

Cao Lu clarified, “I returned to China to spend time with my parents, who are getting older. I hope people will stop judging me for that. I had lived away from them in Korea for 14 years, devoting my youth to my career here, so once my contract concluded, it was important for me to reunite with them.”
