K-pop Idol Sparks Controversy by Sharing G-Dragon’s Pre-Debut Photo Before His Comeback

[TRIGGER WARNING: Sexual Assault]

A former K-pop star, known for the sexual assault of three minors, faced heavy criticism after he recounted a past encounter with a young G-Dragon, who was just 7 years old at the time.

Go Young Wook, previously a member of the influential first-generation co-ed group Roo’Ra, used his social media platform to reflect on his past ties with G-Dragon.

In his post, he uploaded a photo of himself alongside a young G-Dragon, sharing an anecdote that read:

“Most of the images of me circulating online tend to be awkward or uncomfortable, but I do have a few ‘dandy’ snapshots from my time when I was listed among the best Dandy Boys and Dandy Girls, so I wanted to share those.

The image Go shared depicted the “Bang Bang Bang”artist smiling alongside Go, seemingly emulating the style of the first-generation icon.

Go Young Wook also included a link to a YouTube video showcasing G-Dragon’s performance as Little Roo’Ra, adding:

“P.S. in the video below, when Kwon Ji Young was only seven, he adopted my role, mimicked me, and even introduced himself as me, which is a great honor for my family. Because of this, I refuse to believe that my life is completely over.”

While his post seemed to celebrate nostalgia, many of G-Dragon’s fans and VIPs were outraged, especially as it surfaced just ahead of G-Dragon’s solo comeback on October 25.

Despite once being a respected figure in hip-hop, Go’s public image was severely damaged following his conviction and subsequent 2.5-year prison sentence for the sexual assault of three minors between 2010 and 2012.

Additionally, he was required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet for three years.

After his release, he was banned indefinitely from all broadcasts, and his social media accounts were forcibly shut down.

Recently, he regained access to his X account and has started sharing updates with the small number of fans still following him.
