KPOP Legend Reflects on Past, Claims “G-Dragon Once Imitated Me” Amidst Sex Offender Controversy

In the realm of KPOP, Ko Young-wook holds the notorious distinction of being the first artist required to wear electronic monitoring devices. He burst onto the scene in 1994 as part of the mixed-gender group “Roo’Ra,” known for popular tracks like “Angel Without Wings” and “3!4!”

Unfortunately, his career took a dark turn when he faced accusations of sexual assault against minors, resulting in him being sentenced to electronic monitoring. In 2013, he received a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting two 14-year-old girls and one 19-year-old girl.

Recently, on October 7, Ko Young-wook shared a nostalgic post on his social media, expressing, “Many of my online photos come off as awkward or uncomfortable, but I have a few ‘Dandy’ pictures from the times I stood alongside some of the most noted Dandy Boys and Girls of that era, which I’d like to share.”

He continued, “To give you some context, during my time with Roo’ra, my fan club was called Dandy GO.”

In one of the images he posted, he was seen in a coat reminiscent of actress Kim Min-hee, while another picture featured a young G-Dragon posing alongside him.

Alongside the snapshot with G-Dragon, Ko reflected, “Kwon Ji-yong was just seven years old in the picture below… It’s a privilege that he portrayed my younger self and mimicked me when introducing himself.” He added, “Because of this memory, I don’t believe my life is entirely ruined.”
