The impact of K-pop has reached a global scale, highlighted by numerous artists making waves internationally. This rising global presence has drawn the attention of various award organizations beyond South Korea, notably including the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).
On October 8, the EMAs for this year revealed the award categories and the artists nominated within those categories. The announcement showcased an impressive roster of K-pop talent recognized for their achievements, new releases, and widespread popularity.
Here are 7 K-pop artists nominated for the 2024 MTV EMAs!
1. BLACKPINK’s Lisa
This year, Lisa has earned four nominations for the 2024 EMAs. Her latest track “New Woman”featuring Rosalía is up for Best Video and Best Collaboration. Additionally, as a solo performer, she is also nominated for Biggest Fans and Best K-pop.
2. THE SERAPHIM
The leader of the fourth generation, LE SSERAFIM, has received nominations for Best New Artist, Best Push, and Best K-pop.
3. Jungkook of BTS
Jungkook is in contention for the Best K-pop award.
4. Jimin from BTS
In a similar vein, Jimin has also garnered a nomination for Best K-pop alongside his BTS bandmate.
5. NewJeans
NewJeans, a dominant force in both the K-pop scene and mainstream music, has received a nomination for Best K-pop.
6. Stray Kids
Stray Kids also made it to the nominations for Best K-pop, thanks to their string of successful music releases.
7. YOU
Finally, ILLIT surprised many by earning a nomination in the Best Asia Act category.
