TikTok Unveils “Year on TikTok 2024″Report: K-Pop Dominates the Global Stage

On December 5, TikTok, the leading global platform for short-form video content, published its much-anticipated “Year on TikTok 2024” report. This annual summary showcases the platform’s standout performers, with a particular focus on the “Top Artists Global” category, which ranks artists based on the view counts of their official TikTok accounts.

K-Pop Artists Make Their Mark

Among the highlights, ENHYPEN emerged as the second global top artist and the leading figure among Korean groups. Other prominent K-Pop acts that made the list include:

  • NCT
  • THE SERAPHIM
  • Stray Kids
  • aespa
  • TXT (TOMORROW X TOGETHER)
  • TWICE

This marks a total of seven K-Pop groups recognized in the report, solidifying the genre’s growing influence. Compared to the previous year, where five K-Pop artists were featured in the top ten, this surge indicates a significant ascent in global popularity.

Impact on the Music Industry

Yu Kyung-chul, the Head of TikTok Asia Artist Partnerships, remarked on the platform’s evolving role, stating, “TikTok has continued to impact the music industry in 2024 by innovating various aspects such as discovering new artists, music marketing, and enhancing communication between fans and artists. It has become an entertainment platform contributing to the success of both emerging and established artists.”

Celebrating Creators at the First TikTok Awards

In addition to the report, TikTok hosted its inaugural TikTok Awards in Korea on November 15. The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with more than 250 creators and around 1,500 fans coming together to celebrate creativity and community.
