The 28th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival’s opening ceremony screening of “Love Lies Bleeding”has sparked great interest among viewers.
On July 10th, the film “Love Lies Bleeding”was released, which follows the story of Lou and Jackie, who quickly fall in love and end up committing a shocking murder. Kristen Stewart portrays Lou, a gym manager consumed by love, while Katy O’Brian plays Jackie, a determined bodybuilder on the rise. Along with the two main actresses, the movie features a talented cast including Ed Harris, Dave Franco, Anna Baryshnikov, and Jena Malone.
Director Rose Glass, who both co-wrote and directed the movie, revealed, “I drew inspiration from various American films of the 80s, spanning across genres such as thrillers, romance, and noir.”She elaborated, “While I incorporated certain clichés, I also altered certain details in a captivating manner. Filming this movie was an incredibly enjoyable experience for me.”
The director effectively crafted a thrilling and somber journey that explores themes of love, longing, violent retribution, and freedom as Lou and Jackie reunite in the Wild West, told from a rebellious and delicate point of view.
Additionally, the production team unveiled still images capturing key scenes from the film. Kristen Stewart, portraying Lou, and Katie O’Brien, playing the role of Jackie, impressively embodied the characters living in 1980s America. The authentic costumes and props from the era evoke a sense of nostalgia and effectively stir up emotions in viewers.
The images depict a range of events, including Kristen Stewart’s captivating charm, Katy O’Brian’s creative mugshot, and the conversation between the two. In her work, renowned designer Olga Mill aimed to convey the ambiguous atmosphere of the 1980s by incorporating both extravagant and authentic details into the costumes.
