KT Wiz Hwang Jae-gyun and T-ara’s Jiyeon Officially Confirm Divorce After Lingering Rumors

On the 5th, legal sources indicated that the couple submitted a divorce mediation application to the Seoul Family Court last month, marking the start of the divorce proceedings.

Previously, rumors about their separation had circulated. During a KNN Radio baseball broadcast covering the Busan-Gyeongnam area, a commentator remarked, “Did you know? Hwang Jae-gyun is getting divorced.” Moreover, a video showcasing Hwang Jae-gyun socializing with friends at a bar in Seoul surfaced on social media in early September, stirring the divorce speculations once more. At the time, these rumors were dismissed as “groundless,” but three months later, it has been confirmed that the divorce process is in motion.

Earlier reports reveal that Hwang Jae-gyun was spotted at a bar until early morning, leading to increased speculation that the establishment, “A Bar,”is a “hunting pocha” (a bar known for meeting new people). A Bar, a well-known venue in Apgujeong, is operated by Lee Min-woo of Shinhwa’s sister. However, it has been noted that the bar was not originally intended as a hunting pocha.

Hwang Jae-gyun, a prominent baseball player, was confirmed to have mingled with friends at A Bar in Apgujeong until 6 a.m. on September 1, after playing a game in Daejeon on August 31.

A video showing Hwang Jae-gyun at the bar was posted on the bar’s social media, with a fan who observed the scene subsequently reporting to OSEN, sharing images of Hwang speaking with friends amidst other patrons who had been drinking until 6 a.m.

According to an informant, although Hwang Jae-gyun is a senior player on the KT Wiz team, his attendance at a drinking party with both men and women during a critical regular league season, along with the impending fall baseball season, was bound to garner attention. This was especially significant given the ongoing divorce rumors surrounding him, initially sparked by a misleading comment from commentator Lee Gwang-gil.

The public sighting of Hwang Jae-gyun at the bar received heightened interest due to the divorce rumors concerning actress Jiyeon. A representative from KT Wiz carefully responded to OSEN, stating, “We cannot comment on who he was drinking with as it is a personal matter.”

Additionally, various media outlets reported that the bar Hwang visited was perceived as a hunting pocha in Apgujeong, known for facilitating social interactions with the opposite sex. Consequently, the bar’s name became associated with “Apgujeong Hunting Pocha” in search queries.

Based on OSEN’s investigation, A Bar, situated near Apgujeong Rodeo Station, is not predominantly a hunting pocha; although such interactions may occasionally occur. The bar leans more towards being an outdoor pocha. It has been operating since before the term “hunting pocha” came into existence, having been established by Lee Min-woo’s older sister, Lee Young-mi, many years ago. The venue has gained popularity among celebrities and influencers. Lee Min-woo’s sister still manages the bar, and recently he shared photos on social media from a birthday celebration there with friends. In 2020, actor Go Kyung-pyo posted a photo taken at A Bar with a BJ, which led to unfounded rumors about him visiting an entertainment venue.

Lee Min-woo is currently a regular guest on the KBS2 variety show Mr. House Husband, where his sister, Lee Young-mi, has also appeared, sharing her brother’s experience as a victim of a ₩2.6 billion fraud.

Meanwhile, the divorce rumors surrounding T-ara’s Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun continue to circulate. Although a close source to Jiyeon declared that the rumors were “groundless,” speculation persists due to multiple factors, including Jiyeon pausing her YouTube content for personal reasons, her missing wedding ring in recent photos, and the couple’s silence regarding the situation.
