Kurast Undercity and the Vessel of Hatred in Diablo 4: A Comprehensive Guide

Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion introduces an exciting new challenge known as the Kurast Undercity. This guide will detail how this feature works.

With the launch of the Vessel of Hatred expansion, Diablo 4 has expanded significantly. The update brings the new Spiritborn class, a new chapter for the campaign, and numerous mechanics such as Runewords, all providing fresh content for players to explore.

The standout feature of this Diablo 4 DLC is the region of Nahantu, which offers unique biomes, inhabitants, and cultures. At the center of Nahantu lies the capital of Kurast, characterized by its impressive ziggurat inspired by Mesoamerican architecture, towering above the jungle.

However, Kurast conceals a mystery that we will uncover. This guide will explore the Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4 and what players who have acquired the Vessel of Hatred expansion can expect to discover there.

What is the Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred?

The Kurast Undercity presents a new category of challenge dungeon introduced with the Vessel of Hatred expansion. Developers have referred to it as a “time-attack dungeon” due to its unique gameplay mechanics.

Upon entering the Kurast Undercity, players will see a timer ticking down as they progress through its multiple districts. The goal is to quickly navigate through various floors and reach the District Boss.

If the players fail to reach the District Boss before the time runs out, they will fail the attempt and be teleported out of the Undercity, necessitating a restart.

Throughout your journey in Diablo 4’s Kurast Undercity, you will face numerous enemies trying to impede your progress. Some enemies will carry the Afflicted status, and defeating them will add seconds back to your timer.

Additionally, it is critical to defeat as many monsters as possible, as this will incrementally fill your Attunement Rank meter. This meter has four tiers, and a higher Attunement Rank means better loot drops when defeating the District Boss.

To enhance the rewards available from the Kurast Undercity, players can utilize Tributes and Bargains.

Kurast Undercity: Tributes and Bargains

Before entering the Kurast Undercity, players can choose to modify their reward types by offering a specific Tribute. These function similarly to dungeon keys, adding additional challenges to offset the enhanced rewards.

Typically, the extra challenges involve reducing your starting timer or limiting the number of Potions dropped by enemies. In return, utilizing the appropriate Tribute can guarantee drops of rare items like Unique gear.

Moreover, when making a Tribute offer before your Kurast Undercity run, you can also choose to implement a Bargain. For an additional cost in Gold, a Bargain will enhance your loot further, guaranteeing Affixes such as Skill or Passive ranks.

Ensure you are prepared to conquer the Kurast Undercity within the time limit if you opt for Tributes and Bargains. Note that failing the run will not reimburse your Tribute or the resources utilized for Bargains.
