On August 2nd, the Kwon Twins, also known as former YGX dancers Deukie and Dony, gained attention for their guest appearances on BIGBANG Daesung’s YouTube channel.
The pair disclosed their departure from YG, where they had been employed for 16 years, and also regaled with intriguing anecdotes, including reminiscing about their close bond with BIGBANG’s Taeyang.
Deukie and Dony openly shared their thoughts on their appearances and the negative comments they received while participating in “Street Man Fighter” . They acknowledged being judged for their rebellious images, which exude confidence and attitude, but they also received praise for their dancing abilities. In particular, Deukie and Dony commended BIGBANG, highlighting G-Dragon’s proficiency in freestyle and Taeyang’s skill in following choreography. They further explained that BIGBANG’s performances stand out from the usual synchronized dances of idol groups.
Moreover, Dony surprised everyone by disclosing that he was once a trainee at YG and came close to joining the group WINNER. Daesung remarked, “I heard that he was quite intimidating towards the other trainees. He was very strict and disciplined, almost like a head teacher.”Dony also acknowledged the strict standards of behavior at YG. The two dancers went on to discuss their experiences at other companies after leaving YG, noting that they encountered many complex choreographies and precise group dances.
Deukie declared Lisa from BLACKPINK to be the top dancer in YG, stating “Lisa’s skills are unmatched”. On the other hand, Dony’s choice for the best dancer among idols was Mingyu from SEVENTEEN. Dony praised Mingyu’s dancing style, saying “He exudes confidence and flair while performing”.
