Kyedae has refuted xQc’s statement that Kick did not contact her with an offer, despite a former staff member’s accusation that the company attempted to sign her for a lower salary due to her cancer diagnosis.
On June 17, Melissa, a former staff member of Kick, uploaded a YouTube video that was nearly 20 minutes long, making allegations against the employees of the platform.
The video shows her accusing the Kick staff of offering a lower amount of money to a popular Twitch streamer, stating that it may be because the streamer believes she will not live much longer and wants to leave more money for her family.
Although Melissa did not mention any names, social media users were convinced that the conversation was about Kyedae, who had openly fought against Leukemia in 2023.
The day after, xQc stood up for the platform and asserted that neither Kick nor Stake had attempted to contact Kyedae to negotiate a deal with the popular streamer.
During a Twitch stream on June 19, Kyedae refuted xQc’s statements and disclosed that Kick had made attempts to recruit her for the Stake-owned platform.
“In a clip shared on Twitter, she stated that she didn’t care and had received an offer from Kick which she turned down. She realized that she didn’t want to join Kick due to moral reasons.”
“Even if they had attempted to take advantage of my cancer, it would not have affected me. I find it strange for anyone to offer me discounts because of my condition. As far as I know, there were no other individuals openly facing cancer in the public eye.”
I am not particularly concerned about it. It is not of great importance to me, as that platform is dying anyways.
Upon further reflection, she continued to express her belief in the truthfulness of the ex-Kick staff member’s claims.
Kyedae affirmed, “I believe it to be true. I see no reason for her to deceive me. My illness has been the subject of far more hurtful rumors, so I am not particularly bothered by this.”
