LA Thieves Acquire Scrappy, Envoy, HyDra, and New Coach Ahead of 2024 CDL Season

The Los Angeles Thieves have reportedly made a significant mark in the 2025 CDL rostermania by assembling a star-studded lineup featuring Scrappy, HyDra, Envoy, and Ghosty.

With only a month remaining until the release of Black Ops 6, many Call of Duty League teams are still finalizing their rosters. Fans who anticipated exciting developments during free agency have finally had their expectations met.

Sender, known for his previous role as Cloud 9’s coach, played an integral part in guiding the team to a World Championship victory in 2023.

Implications of This Move for the CDL

The Thieves surpassed expectations at the 2024 CoD Champs, finishing in fourth place behind the league’s established top three teams. Instead of maintaining the status quo, LA opted for a bold restructuring, letting go of Nastie, JoeDecieves, and Kremp to form a championship-contending roster centered around Ghosty, who performed exceptionally on the big stage.

It’s important to highlight that this roster is still subject to finalization.

If completed, HyDra and Scrappy are considered among the top SMG and AR players in the league, respectively. Ghosty is a versatile player capable of excelling in multiple roles, while Envoy brings a wealth of experience and success to the team. This roster is anticipated to compete fiercely with OpTic and FaZe.

In light of the outcomes from the MW3 season for the league’s elite teams, such a strategic move has been on the horizon.

After clinching Major 1, Toronto Ultra struggled to secure further Major wins this season, ending in third at CoD Champs. Cloud 9 was riding high after their triumph in three Majors during Modern Warfare 2, including the CoD Champs victory. However, they narrowly missed out this season, finishing as runners-up at CoD Champs and securing just one major win.

Other teams are now facing the challenge of building robust rosters as the competitive landscape intensifies ahead of the upcoming season.
