On October 26th, an interview with Yonhap News revealed that Kim Soo-mi’s son, Jung Myung-ho, the director of Napalkkot F&F, and her daughter-in-law, actress Seo Hyo-rim, announced that Kim Soo-mi has authored a new book entitled “Goodbye.”
Seo Hyo-rim reflected on her close relationship with Kim Soo-mi, whom she affectionately referred to as “Mom,” describing her as “a person with a gentle heart.” She acknowledged that Kim Soo-mi had been facing significant stress related to her business and attempted to provide comfort by reminding her, “You can’t let this break you.” In response, Kim Soo-mi confessed, “I understand your feelings, but my body just can’t keep pace,” showcasing her vulnerable side.
Jung Myung-ho further elaborated that Kim Soo-mi appeared to be examining her life lately, sharing that there were numerous manuscripts in the house. He explained that the book’s title, “Goodbye,” was a poignant reflection. He revealed that Kim Soo-mi had imparted a message to her younger colleagues, stating, “As someone who dedicated her life to being a supporting actress, I want to convey this: If you’re struggling or experiencing setbacks, persevere, as this industry will eventually recognize your efforts. Never give up halfway.”
In a tragic turn, Kim Soo-mi was discovered in cardiac arrest at her residence on October 25th and was later taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. At 75 years old, her passing was attributed to hyperglycemic shock. Her wake is being held at the Funeral Hall of Hanyang University Hospital located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, with her funeral set for October 27th at 11 AM. A notable assembly of celebrities, including Yoo Jae-suk and actors Shin Hyun-joon, Yum Jung-ah, Park Eun-soo, Jo In-sung, along with the couple Yoo Dong-geun and Jeon In-hwa, have come to pay their respects.
Jung Myung-ho conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the family, stating, “We sincerely thank everyone who cherished Kim Soo-mi, who lived her life with joy and sorrow, as everyone’s beloved mother. We hope that you will remember her for the love and passion she consistently showed in her acting, just as she remained close to her audience. Our family intends to honor the support and love you have extended to us over the years.”
