Lawyer Lee Hyun-gon Alleges HYBE’s Involvement in Negative Viral Campaign Against NewJeans: Accusations of Lobbying and Illegal Requests to Journalists

On October 10, attorney Lee Hyun-gon addressed the issue via Facebook, emphasizing that even though Kim Joo-young and Lee Do-kyung were endorsed by HYBE, their primary responsibilities as executives of ADOR should focus on supporting ADOR and NewJeans. He asserted, “Their actions are evidently in breach of their commitments as CEO and director of ADOR, which is detrimental to both ADOR and NewJeans.”

Furthermore, he remarked, “Park Tae-hee and Cho Sung-hoon, who manage HYBE’s public relations, have been orchestrating a harmful viral campaign against NewJeans. They have smeared the reputation of the group members, inappropriately disclosed private communications like personal KakaoTalk messages, and have engaged in lobbying and unlawful solicitations with media personnel.”

In a prior livestream, Hanni from NewJeans revealed that she faced mistreatment from HYBE, sharing an incident where the group’s manager advised members to disregard her. As the situation gained attention, Hanni was called to provide testimony during a National Assembly audit, alongside ADOR CEO Kim Joo-young, who was also asked to testify.

Recently, Hanni provided reassurance to her fans through the communication app Phoning, stating, “I’ve made my choice. I will be attending the National Assembly. Please don’t worry. I’m doing this for myself and my group.” Nonetheless, it remains uncertain if CEO Kim Joo-young will be present as a witness.

In related news, HYBE is being scrutinized for allegedly omitting portions of CCTV footage pertinent to the situation involving Hanni’s alleged neglect. The mothers of NewJeans members spoke out in interviews, revealing that they asked HYBE to examine footage that included the “ignore her” comment, but were informed that the specific part had been erased and was not retrievable.
