Lay Zhang raises awareness of children suffering in war-torn countries during concert in China

At a concert in China, Lay Zhang, a Chinese soloist and member of EXO, is garnering attention for bringing awareness to the plight of children in Palestine, Ukraine, and Syria.

On June 14, 2024, Lay Zhang performed at a concert in Nanjing, China, as part of his “Grand Line 4: STEP”world tour. At the concert, he debuted his new song, “Human In You,”which is featured on his first English album, “STEP.”The lyrics of the song promote the ideas of global harmony, love, and compassion.

During the performance, screens above the idol showed live footage of Lay. But that’s not everything. They also exhibited pictures of children from different parts of the globe.

Among the photos, it was observed that Lay had included a picture of a girl from Ukraine holding a signboard, two children from Syria standing next to their demolished home, and a rescued baby from Palestine who had been aided by volunteers.

Lay’s actions are being commended amidst the devastating toll of Israel’s war on Gaza since October 2023. The conflict has resulted in the loss of nearly 40,000 Palestinian lives, with a majority being women and children. Furthermore, around 86,000 individuals have been wounded and many more have been forced to flee their homes.

While numerous Western celebrities have utilized the platform to bring about change and raise awareness, the same cannot be said for Asia. Thus, Lay’s actions have garnered immense praise from his global fan community, as they appreciate his vocal support for the plight of suffering children.

Suho joined UNICEF’s Gaza Stip Emergency Relief Campaign in April, showing that Lay is not the only EXO member in support of Palestine.
