Players of League of Legends have expressed their discontent with the recently unveiled Exalted tier skin for Jinx, titled Arcane Fracture. Despite the excitement surrounding new additions to the game, this particular skin hasn’t garnered the warm reception many anticipated.
Riot Games is set to launch the Arcane Fracture Jinx skin in December 2024. As an Exalted tier item, it is being marketed as a “luxury good,”differentiating itself from standard skins. The anticipation grew even more as the skin made its debut on the Public Beta Environment (PBE), allowing players to get a first look.
This latest skin draws inspiration from Jinx’s portrayal in Season 2 of the acclaimed animated series Arcane. Players will have the unique opportunity to switch between different forms, each accompanied by distinctive special effects, animations, and intricate details. However, not all feedback has been positive.
Disappointment Among League of Legends Fans Regarding Jinx’s Arcane Fracture Skin
While Arcane Fracture is not as prohibitively priced as the infamous $450 Faker Hall of Legends Ahri skin, it does include a gacha mechanic. To acquire this skin, players must use Arcane Sparks, an in-game currency, to draw it from a selection of rewards. In some instances, obtaining the skin could cost around $250 under a guaranteed draw scenario.
This steep investment has led to widespread criticism, with players voicing their dissatisfaction. One user lamented, “Jinx skins are really disappointing ngl. Feels very low effort,”on a post on X.
Critics have pointed out that although the skin features three distinct forms, they share the same recall animation. Many feel that two of these forms are merely recycled designs, noting that all three have basic visual effects that are simply color variations. The Powder form was particularly criticized for being minimal: “just a top change and hair,” devoid of a unique pentakill animation.
Questions have arisen regarding the design choices, especially concerning her Powder form. One user questioned, “Why on God’s earth does she use Fishbones & Pow Pow? Isn’t the Zaun of her universe super polished and elevated? Wouldn’t her weapons look more Piltovan/Hextech-y, if anything?” This sentiment underscores a demand for deeper lore integration into the skin’s aesthetics.
Additionally, fans were disappointed that none of the forms feature Jinx wearing her hood or cape, which are seen in the Wild Rift version of the character as a standalone skin. One user noted, “The $18 version of high noon Yone has a higher production value,” further emphasizing their dissatisfaction.
The Exalted Arcane Fracture skin for Jinx is scheduled to arrive in League of Legends on December 11, 2024, alongside other characters such as Professor Heimerdinger and Arcane Savior Viktor, expanding the thematic universe of the game.
