League of Legends introduces new emotes allowing players to acknowledge their mistakes

League of Legends is set to introduce new emotes for players, including one that allows them to admit when they’re wrong to their teammates in Split Three.

One of the biggest challenges for any League of Legends player is acknowledging their mistakes. Whether it’s unintentionally feeding a kill in lane, missing Smite on Baron or Dragon, or blocking off your main carry as Anivia, players often find ways to shift the blame onto others.

This tendency often leads to heated arguments among teammates, resulting in flaming, toxicity, and intentional feeding, as much of the game time is spent in conflict. The developers have taken significant steps to reduce toxicity levels in the game, implementing stricter punishments and more.

With Split Three of the 2024 ranked season, there are additional changes aimed at fostering a more positive gaming environment. League of Legends players will now have the opportunity to admit that certain situations were their fault.

According to the developer update on upcoming changes in Split Three, a new “My Bad!” emote will be included in League of Legends.

This emote is perfect for moments like accidentally stealing a cannon minion while playing support or missing a crucial skill shot. Communicating these feelings to your teammates is essential, and this new emote provides a way to do just that.

“Simply press the “i” key, and the “my bad” interactive emote will appear to express your heartfelt apologies,” the update states. “Your teammate can then respond using the same interactive emote, allowing both of you to move past any mistakes and continue working towards victory.”

Considering how often League players are hesitant to admit their errors, this emote is expected to see substantial usage, particularly in solo queue matches.
