Version 14.10 of League of Legends is set to eliminate the Lethal Tempo rune, which has been regarded as one of the most powerful and overpowered runes in the MOBA’s history.
The upcoming mid-season patch for League of Legends will introduce a plethora of modifications to the popular MOBA. In addition to these adjustments, the rune Lethal Tempo, which has greatly influenced and shaped metas, will also be eliminated.
The rune offers a gradual increase in attack speed with each auto attack, and when fully stacked, provides a bonus to attack range. This rune proved to be advantageous for champions such as Yone and Yasuo, who could capitalize on the early attack speed boost to dominate their lane opponents. It was also beneficial for hyper carries like Jinx and Ashe, allowing them to utilize the bonus range to effectively kite and pursue their targets.
As part of a larger set of changes to runes in Patch 14.10, Lethal Tempo is being removed alongside Predator. This decision has sparked controversy among the player base, with many expressing their discontent.

One Twitter user responded by saying that lethal tempo was already extremely overpowered and that Riot had surprised them.
In the past, the developers have consistently struggled with balancing the rune. They have either made it excessively powerful and dominant in the meta, or weakened it to the extent that it is not a feasible choice for players to use.
With alterations to other runes within the same tree, the meta will experience a significant shift, resulting in champions who previously relied on the rune to seek alternative sources of power in order to maintain their current level of strength.
The changes mentioned are currently being tested on the PBE, indicating that they are still subject to modification, but are expected to be implemented alongside other major changes in Patch 14.10.
