Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean recently tied the knot with Leah Shafer, and her partner revealed whether she plans to change her surname.
Famed for her role on Below Deck Mediterranean, Captain Sandy Yawn joined Leah Shafer in a luxurious boat wedding on May 11 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The event was graced by numerous stars from the franchise.
In September 2023, Captain Sandy asked Leah to marry him, and viewers will get to see their engagement on the upcoming June season of Below Deck Med.
The newlyweds have come back from their honeymoon, which took place on a yacht in Little Palm Island, and are prepared to embark on the next chapter of their journey together.
During an interview with US Weekly, Leah discussed her unwavering dedication to Captain Sandy and shared her thoughts on potentially changing her last name to match her wife’s.
The idea of getting married seemed unreal to me. Sandy couldn’t stop talking about how incredible it felt to be married, and the fact that I would be taking her name and officially becoming Leah Rae Yawn only added to the excitement,”she lovingly shared about her spouse.
“No longer being a girlfriend and now being a wife, it brings me a sense of joy to say, ‘I am her wife.’ Whenever we arrive at a hotel, we proudly announce ourselves as the Yawn party. It’s a wonderful feeling.”
Captain Sandy expressed her gratitude for her wife’s significant life choice and extended her thanks to all those who attended their wedding in a post on Instagram from May 15.
“In 2024, on May 11th, I tied the knot with the love of my life. Marriage has exceeded all my expectations and I feel incredibly grateful and blessed,”wrote the Below Deck star.
“Leah Rae Yawn, I am deeply in love with you. I want to express my gratitude for taking my name and to our entire family and friends for joining us and showing their love and support for our relationship.”
Although it is still uncertain if the wedding will be recorded for Below Deck Med, Chef Dave White shared snippets of the event on social media, and there were cameras present.
Regardless of whether Captain Sandy and Leah’s wedding is broadcasted on Bravo, fans are ecstatic that the two are now officially married and are sending their best wishes.
