Leaked Black Ops Gulf War perk could completely change Warzone meta

The release of insider information has begun for the upcoming 2024 installment of the Call of Duty series. As previously reported, the game is expected to be titled Black Ops Gulf War and there is speculation that a specific perk could have significant impact on Warzone, potentially altering the meta. However, this change may not have positive effects.

With the release of every new Call of Duty game, Warzone battle royale sees significant updates that aim to preserve the game’s original appeal while also keeping it interesting. Leaks suggest that Verdansk, the original map from Day 1, will make a comeback this year.

Although Warzone has undergone significant changes since then, not all of them have been embraced, including the elimination of slide canceling and a modified perk system during the launch of Warzone 2 alongside MW2 in 2022.

Numerous multiplayer leaks for Black Ops Gulf War were released on April 14, revealing details about perks, streaks, and weapons in the game. One particular perk, Survivor, caught the attention of both multiplayer fans and players of Warzone as it has the potential to significantly change the gameplay in both modes.

The description for Survivor states that when a player dies, they will enter Last Stand mode where they have the ability to self-revive once per life. Additionally, teammates will be able to revive downed players at a faster rate.

Despite being abandoned in Call of Duty some time ago, Last Stand gave players an unfair advantage by allowing them to survive being outgunned, as long as a teammate was able to revive them.

Last Stand was a hugely divisive perk that most players were glad to see the back of.

The potential impact of this feature on Warzone is quite intriguing. If it translates directly into the battle royale game, players may receive a complimentary Self Revive by equipping the perk, significantly altering the dynamics of the game.

This could potentially classify it as a crutch perk, as it is rare to come across a player who does not use it. It could prove to be vital during late-game situations when you quickly need to retrieve your Loadout Drop.

Undoubtedly, the implementation of Survivor would spark intense debate among players, as it would provide a significant advantage. Therefore, it is imperative for the developers to consider adjusting it for fairness in Warzone.

For instance, it may retain the faster teammate revive but eliminate the complimentary Self Revive, or modify the perk entirely to better suit the battle royale environment. This would create a more balanced choice between Survivor and other options such as Tempered or Double Time.

While it is still very early in the development process, there is a possibility that this perk may not be available in Warzone when the game is released later this year. However, if it is included, Treyarch and Raven Software will need to thoughtfully consider its implementation in the game.
