On the May 26th episode of JTBC’s “Come travel with me, Mom?” , Lee Hyori and her mother Jeon Gi-soon visited Gyeongju for their first trip together.
Despite their past struggles with maintaining a close relationship, Lee Hyori recently revealed her excitement for their upcoming mother-daughter trip. Jeon Gi-soon proudly praised her daughter as a hardworking and accomplished individual who worked her way into the entertainment industry and became the main provider for their family. In her introduction, Lee Hyori proudly declared herself as “Jeon Gi-soon’s youngest daughter and a top star for 22 years”.
Gyeongju was the chosen destination for Jeon Gi-soon, who traveled with Lee Hyori by train and car, treasuring their moments together. However, Lee Hyori’s father suffers from dementia and has lost about 20% of his memory, which requires her mother’s constant care. As a result, a longer trip was not possible and Lee Hyori faced difficulties in taking time off due to her family and pets. She shared that she accepted the offer to join the program as she felt it could be their final opportunity to travel together.
While talking, the subject of Lee Hyori having a child arose. Despite her long-standing desire for a child, she mentioned, “Due to my age, I am unable to have one right now.”Her mother offered encouragement, saying, “Why not try like others do?”However, Lee Hyori expressed her hesitation towards undergoing in vitro fertilization, stating, “I am not willing to go to such lengths.”Respecting her daughter’s strong and wise decision, her mother did not push for a grandchild any further.
