During a morning interview on the 20th, Lee Je-hoon discussed his role as North Korean soldier Lim Gyu-nam in the action movie ‘Runaway’ (directed by Lee Jong-pil and produced by The Lamp). He also expressed his excitement for his upcoming projects, ‘Signal 2’ and ‘Taxi Driver 3,’ where he looks forward to taking on new and challenging roles.
Lee Je-hoon reflected, “As I portrayed Gyu-nam, I constantly pondered the reasons behind his desire to escape. He must have questioned the suitability of the predetermined post-discharge life. With a singular focus on achieving freedom, he diligently prepared for his escape.”
He went on to say that his skin is typically fair, but he had to put in extra effort to achieve Gyu-nam’s tanned complexion. The makeup team did an excellent job in enhancing Gyu-nam’s tired and worn-out appearance, which made him connect even more with the character. While filming ‘Runaway,’ he usually checks his appearance in the mirror frequently, but this was not necessary for this particular role. Instead, he would ask the makeup team to make him look more disheveled if he felt too put together. He chuckled as he recalled this.
Lee Je-hoon expressed his excitement for his upcoming projects, “Signal 2″and “Taxi Driver 3”, stating that the scripts for both are mind-blowing. He mentioned that even though the full script for “Signal 2″is not yet available, the initial parts alone left him in awe. He confidently expressed that these projects will showcase something beyond people’s imagination and praised writer Kim Eun-hee, saying that she has outdone herself instead of simply being her brilliant self.
The film ‘Runaway’ centers around a North Korean soldier who embarks on a journey for the future, while a security officer pursues him to safeguard the present. The tense chase for survival is portrayed by actors Lee Je-hoon, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Hong Sa-bin, under the direction of Lee Jong-pil, renowned for ‘Samjin Company English Class’ and ‘Dori Artist.’ The highly anticipated release date for this film is July 3rd.
