During an interview at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on June 20th, Lee Je-hoon discussed his upcoming projects while celebrating the release of the movie “Escape”. He also mentioned “Signal 2”, which has been highly anticipated by fans since writer Kim Eun-hee confirmed its production eight years after Season 1 in 2016. This news caused excitement among fans who have been waiting patiently for the second season.
Upon reading the script, Lee Je-hoon alluded to the fact that his initial reaction was one of disbelief, exclaiming, “This is insane!”Although he only read the early version of ‘Signal 2′, he couldn’t help but wonder how someone could come up with such a gripping storyline. He believes that the final product will exceed viewers’ expectations and showcase a level of depth that they may not have anticipated.
He stressed, “Although it has been 10 years, one may question, ‘Shouldn’t we just leave it as it is?’ However, ‘Signal 2’ represents Kim Eun-hee’s growth beyond herself. It made me realize that she has surpassed her previous achievements.”
Despite writing many successful dramas such as “Sign”, “Phantom”, “Kingdom”, “Jirisan”, and “Revenant”, Kim Eun-hee’s “Signal”remains the top favorite among fans. This 2016 drama follows the story of detectives from different time periods who are linked through urgent radio transmissions, as they work together to solve cold cases.
By masterfully blending time-slip and mystery elements, the drama “Signal”gained widespread popularity. Actor Cho Jin-woong, who portrayed Lee Jae-han, was awarded the top prize at the tvN10 Awards that year, and the performances of Kim Hye-soo and Lee Je-hoon continue to be praised as legendary. Kim Eun-hee considers “Signal”to be a significant project. At an event in December 2016, she stressed that a second season of “Signal”would require an exceptional script, as the cast and crew had developed a strong attachment to the show.

Rather than simply waiting and brainstorming, she fulfilled her creative desire by creating the zombie series “Kingdom”, a project she had long desired to undertake. She also received praise for the Korean-style occult drama “Revenant”.

In March, while speaking at La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, CEO of production company B.A. Entertainment, Jang Won-seok, and writer Kim Eun-hee officially announced the production of “Signal 2”. This confirmed the previous speculations and sparked excitement among fans.
According to Lee Je-hoon, the script for “Signal”is being written with a “crazy”level of detail. For fans who have been eagerly anticipating the return of the show, it is an emotionally charged moment to witness the incredible effort put in by Kim Eun-hee in crafting the new season.
