Lee Jin-ho Responds to Accusations Regarding Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun

On March 28, Lee Jin-ho published a video on his YouTube channel, Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho, where he addressed serious allegations pertaining to Kim Sae-ron. In the video, he claimed, “Kim Sae-ron‘s family held a press conference revealing KakaoTalk messages suggesting she had a romantic relationship with Kim Soo-hyun during her minor years.” He also expressed concern, stating, “They have announced their intention to sue me for stalking, which compels me to clarify my stance.”

Lee pointed out that the family has already received complete transcripts of his broadcasts. He firmly stated, “At no point did I assert that the image depicting Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun touching cheeks was fabricated or that their relationship was inauthentic. If they possess any proof that I made such claims, they should present it.”

Furthermore, he questioned, “What relevance do I have with Kim Soo-hyun that has led them to involve me in this situation? I have never interacted with anyone from Gold Medalist, nor do I have connections with former employees of the agency. Garo Sero Institute’s claim that I was directed by Gold Medalist to undermine Kim Sae-ron is utterly untrue.”

Labeling the accusations as “blatant defamation, ” Lee Jin-ho announced his plans for legal recourse. He also targeted Kim Sae-ron’s family lawyer, Boo Ji-seok, who alleged during the press conference that Lee was disseminating false information to evade accountability. He noted, “Ironically, they are pursuing me on stalking charges rather than for spreading misinformation, which inadvertently validates the authenticity of the recorded calls I shared—conversations involving the late Kim Sae-ron and her previous boyfriend, among others.”

Lee Jin-ho also scrutinized the selective handling of the situation by Kim Sae-ron’s family. He expressed, “Why are they ignoring the allegations regarding Kim Sae-ron’s experiences of domestic violence inflicted by her American husband? While they aggressively pursue Kim Soo-hyun, they remain silent about her spouse, who has publicly acknowledged their marriage yet did not attend her funeral as her legal husband. Evidence of abusive messages and injuries exists, yet no allegations have been made against him.”

Many social media users have inquired why Lee Jin-ho is not investigating Kim Soo-hyun’s case more thoroughly. He responded, “I have valid reasons for focusing on Kim Sae-ron’s situation. It’s essential not only for clearing my name but also for rectifying the misrepresentations propagated by Garo Sero Institute.”

Lee Jin-ho recounted a conversation with a close associate of Kim Sae-ron, identified as “B, ” who suggested, “Everything will conclude positively if you report on Kim Soo-hyun.” However, he alleged that Garo Sero Institute manipulated his dialogue to suggest a sense of resignation, altering the context of his full statement, which was, “How can I drag someone else down just to save myself?” He emphasized his commitment to avoiding creating further victims.

On the subject of investigating Kim Soo-hyun’s past relationship, Lee Jin-ho articulated, “This concerns a relationship that concluded four years ago. The only individuals aware of the complete scenario are the family members in possession of Kim Sae-ron’s phone. As a journalist, it’s my duty to investigate prior to reporting, but contacting them has led to accusations of harassment and stalking. How can I investigate under such circumstances?”

In concluding remarks, Lee Jin-ho stated, “If there was indeed a relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron, that is a personal affair. How does that concern me?”

In a related note, Kim Sae-ron’s family had previously indicated that she experienced significant emotional distress due to Lee Jin-ho’s videos while she was alive. On March 17, they initiated a defamation lawsuit against Lee Jin-ho with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, alleging he spread inaccurate information. The case was subsequently transferred to the Seodaemun Police Station on March 18. In contrast, Lee Jin-ho maintains that the quarrels between Kim Sae-ron and her American spouse were the principal factors contributing to her death.
