On October 24, 2024, Lee Young Ae and her husband Jung Ho Young graced the 14th Beautiful Artist Awards held in Seoul. This prestigious ceremony annually recognizes remarkable artists across various domains, including film, theater, charitable contributions, and independent cinema.
Lee Young Ae stepped in as a presenter during the event, filling the role of the previous year’s award recipient, Lee Jung Jae, who was unable to attend.
Significant Public Appearance After Two Years
The couple’s presence together at this ceremony captured considerable media attention. Observers noted them sharing quiet moments, with Jung often seen affectionately watching Lee as she engaged with fans and posed for photographs.
This event marked their first joint appearance at an awards ceremony since they last attended the 12th Beautiful Artist Awards in 2022, making it a noteworthy occasion for their fans.
Age Gap and Financial Standing
Lee Young Ae, born in 1971, is currently 53 years old. She married the Korean-American businessman and chairman of Raycom Korea, Jung Ho Young, in a private ceremony back in 2009. Their union sparked public curiosity, particularly given the 20-year age difference and Jung’s considerable wealth, estimated at around 2 trillion won, alongside his complex romantic history.
Jung’s previous marriage was to actress Kim Soo Ryun, who later remarried actor Park Young Gyu after their divorce. Additionally, his past relationship with acclaimed actress Shim Eun Ha attracted significant attention, particularly after their engagement concluded unexpectedly just two days prior to their planned wedding in 2001. Since their marriage, Lee and Jung have welcomed fraternal twins, a son and a daughter, born in 2011.
Legal Action Against Open Mind TV
In recent news, Lee Young Ae has taken legal action against the YouTube channel “Open Mind TV” and its representative, Jung Chun Soo, for alleged defamation and dissemination of false information.
Last year, she made a generous donation of 50 million won to the Syngman Rhee Memorial Foundation for a memorial hall’s construction. However, Open Mind TV released a video suggesting that Lee’s charitable contribution was linked to political figures, namely President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee. In response, Lee filed a complaint for defamation with the Yongsan Police Station against Jung.
Although the case was initially handed over to the Yangju Police Station, which subsequently chose not to proceed, Lee’s team appealed the decision. As a result, the case was forwarded to the prosecution, and the Uijeongbu District Prosecutor’s Office ruled against prosecution in June. Following another appeal from Lee’s side, the Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office ordered a reinvestigation in August.
