On the 24th, a video titled “Lee Soo-hyuk Proves to be a Big Fan of Lee Young-ji” was released on Lee Young-ji’s YouTube channel, “Nothing Much Prepared”. Prior to the appearance of actor Lee Soo-hyuk in the video, Lee Young-ji showcased an alcoholic product she received as a form of advertisement or sponsorship. She made sure to emphasize, “It’s important not to consume this before riding a bike, as it could lead to drunk driving.”
After the news of BTS’s Suga’s involvement in a drunk driving incident on an electric scooter broke out, there was speculation that Lee Young-ji was making a reference to him. Suga was accused of breaking road traffic laws when he fell off an electric scooter in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu at around 11:15 PM on the 6th of last month. His blood alcohol content at the time was tested to be 0.227%, which was well above the legal limit of 0.08%.
On the 23rd, Suga was at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul where he underwent a three-hour investigation. The police stated that during the questioning, Suga acknowledged the drunk driving charges.
Following the investigation, Suga released a second handwritten apology. In a letter posted on the fan community Weverse the previous day, he expressed, “I offer sincere apologies for disappointing and causing pain to my fans and all those who care for me as a result of my wrongdoing. I neglected my duty to behave in a manner deserving of the love I have been shown and made a grave error.”
He further explained, “I regret to say that on the evening of the 6th, I rode an electric scooter on the sidewalk while under the influence. Additionally, I would like to apologize for any confusion that may have arisen due to my hastily written initial apology, which was posted on the 7th.”
“Suga expressed his regret, stating, “The unfortunate incident has marred the cherished memories I have shared with my fellow members and our fans, and has also brought shame to the name of BTS. I apologize to my fellow members who have always had faith in me and had to endure a tough situation because of my actions. My heart is filled with remorse towards our fans who have always shown me more love than I could ever deserve.”
