Leviatán lift first-ever VCT Americas trophy

Leviatán emerged victorious over G2 Esports in the VCT Americas Stage 2 final, earning the top spot for their region at Valorant Champions.

Despite initially losing to G2 Esports in an earlier match of the tournament, Leviatán managed to bounce back and secure a spot in the grand final.

Leviatán’s exceptional performance in the second stage of the regular season, where they maintained an undefeated record, secured them the top spot for the Americas at Champions.

Together with Leviatán, Sentinels, G2 Esports, and KRÜ Visa will also be representing the Americas region. However, out of these teams, only Leviatán emerged as the season’s winner and lifted the trophy at the end of the year.

The competition lasted until the very end, as the first two maps of the series required double overtime. Despite G2 Esports securing a victory on the third map, Leviatán ended the series on a high note, ultimately winning 3-1 with a strong performance on Ascent.

Corbin “C0M”Lee expressed in his post-match interview that his goal for this year was to win at least one trophy. Now, he has the opportunity to win two. He confidently stated that although people may critique his stats, his main focus is always on winning.

The organization will be making their second appearance at Champions, having previously participated in 2022. Although they came close to qualifying for the 2023 event, they narrowly missed out after placing second in the Last Chance Qualifier, with a 1-3 defeat against KRÜ.

Leviatán’s Erick “aspas” Santos and C0M are both striving for their second Champions title. Aspas emerged victorious with LOUD in 2022, while C0M secured his first trophy with Evil Geniuses in 2023. To date, no other player has achieved the feat of winning two Champions titles.

Aspas has made history by becoming the first player to win two Americas trophies, having previously achieved his first victory with LOUD in 2023.

The Valorant Champions tournament is set to begin on August 1 in Seoul, South Korea. It will take place at both the COEX Artium and INSPIRE Arena, with the INSPIRE Arena hosting the final four teams.
