After enduring the unimaginable horrors of the Holocaust at Auschwitz-Birkenau at the tender age of 20, TikTok influencer Lily Ebert has passed away at the remarkable age of 100.
The announcement of the passing of Holocaust survivor and social media sensation, Lily Ebert, was made public by her great-grandson, Dov Forman, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Ebert spent her final moments surrounded by her loving family. Despite her century-long life, she lived an abundance of experiences, having first lived through the Holocaust at just 20.
In a heartfelt message, Forman, who collaborated with Ebert to educate her two million followers on TikTok about the Holocaust, conveyed that she died “peacefully.”
@lilyebert We must never forget 💔 #100yearold #holocaustsurvivor #greatgrandma
“We are deeply saddened to share the peaceful passing of our cherished matriarch, Lily Ebert, Mummy, Safta, who departed surrounded by her loved ones,” Forman expressed.
Forman elaborated on Ebert’s profound experiences and the atrocities she overcame. “On July 9, 1944, Safta and her family were taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where her mother, younger sister, and brother were tragically lost in the gas chambers.”
“Against a backdrop of unimaginable grief, Safta made a vow to herself: if she was to survive that hellish ordeal, she would share her story not with bitterness, but with dignity and resolve, to honor the memory of those who did not make it. Her promise was one of profound significance, and she fulfilled it beautifully,” he continued.
Forman also celebrated Ebert as the “queen” of their extensive family, noting her legacy will live on through her ten grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

“A radiant light has gone dim. She was our inspiration, and her absence creates an immense void in our lives,” Forman concluded.
Following her liberation by Allied Forces in 1945, Ebert relocated to Switzerland to begin sharing her experiences about the Holocaust. However, she often felt discarded, stating to The Times of Israel that “the world was not ready to hear” the dreadful truths she had encountered.
Eventually, Ebert settled in London in 1967, where she lived until her passing.
As her family, friends, and online followers mourn her loss, many have taken to social media to express their sorrow.
“Such a remarkable woman. Let’s carry on her legacy and keep advocating against hate,” a user commented on X/Twitter.
Dov, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Your sorrow is shared by us all. What a wonderful, wonderful woman. Please continue her legacy and keep fighting against hate. She must have been immensely proud of you.
