McDonald’s Partners with Dragon Ball Daima for Exclusive Anime-Themed Meal Line
McDonald’s is embarking on an exciting collaboration with the Dragon Ball Daima franchise, introducing a unique line of anime-inspired meals that fans will find enticing yet challenging to obtain.
Announcement of the Collaboration
On November 13, 2023, McDonald’s Hong Kong announced this special collaboration via social media platforms, sharing a promotional video featuring beloved character Kid Goku. The video showcases an array of new combo meals, including crispy fries, a tasty shake, a katsu-style cutlet sandwich, and delightful fried dough balls.
Featured Menu Items
The centerpiece of this collaboration is the delectable Chicken Katsu Burger, which can be enjoyed in a value meal that includes fries and a drink for just HK$39 (approximately US$5), reduced from the regular price of HK$45 (around US$6).
To evoke nostalgia, the Crispy Purple Sweet Potato Balls, designed to resemble the iconic Dragon Balls, are priced at HK$9 (approximately US$1). Additionally, customers will spot familiar characters on the food packaging, including Piccolo and Bulma.
Innovative Product Packaging
Adding to the whimsy of the collaboration, Piccolo, known for his liquid diet, is featured prominently on McDonald’s White Grape Yogurt Flavored Soda with Fruit Cocktail. Meanwhile, fans will find Bulma gracing the packaging of the Okonomiyaki Flavored McShaker Fries.
Regional Availability and Future Prospects
Currently, this Dragon Ball-themed menu is exclusive to locations in Hong Kong, with no official updates regarding potential availability in other regions. However, it’s worth noting that North American chains have previously engaged in similar anime collaborations, such as the Jujutsu Kaisen Garlic Sauce and Yu-Gi-Oh! themed Happy Meal toys featuring popular characters like Hello Kitty.
Latest Offers from McDonald’s
In addition to the anime-themed meals, McDonald’s has also launched a Bestie Bundle meal, which comes with exclusive friendship bracelets. This follows the release of a special Friends-themed Happy Meal for adults last month, though availability may be limited.
