The famous Forbes magazine recently released an article entitled “Blackpink’s Lisa Achieves Same Number of Hits in the U.K. as All Other Band Members Combined.”
Forbes begins the article by commending Lisa, stating that she is experiencing great success in the U.K. In the recent weeks, the singer has achieved two hit songs from her latest solo career era. With the release of her newest track, she continues to surpass all other members of the group that catapulted her to fame in various regions of the globe.
According to Forbes, Lisa’s success in the UK market has been analyzed, with the report stating that her collaboration with Latin artist Rosalía, titled “New Woman,”has caused both artists to reach #55 on the official UK song chart, fulfilling the high expectations surrounding their partnership.
With the debut of ‘New Woman’ on the UK Singles Chart, Lisa achieved a milestone in her career. This single marks her fourth solo appearance on the chart, solidifying her position as the top K-pop solo artist.
In fact, Lisa has now achieved four entries on the UK song chart, which is equal to the total number of hits by the other three BLACKPINK members combined.
Among the female members of the band, Jennie is the only other member to have multiple appearances on the U.K. songs chart. Her solo track “You & Me”debuted on the chart in October 2023 and reached the top 40. In November of the same year, she collaborated with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the song “One of the Girls,”which eventually peaked at No. 21.
“Jisoo and Rosé have each achieved one hit on the charts. Of the two, Rosé was the first to reach a ranking in 2021 with her track “On The Ground”, which peaked at No. 43. In the following year, Jisoo’s “Flower”also made it onto the charts and climbed as high as No. 38.”
As the article neared its conclusion, Forbes kept up their praise for Lisa’s solo music, highlighting the success of her latest songs on the UK charts. Their report stated, “Not only has ‘New Woman’ become a major hit in the UK, appearing on multiple main charts, but it has also seen significant sales in the country.”Additionally, Lisa’s single debuted on four charts, including reaching the top 10 on both the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts. Furthermore, it made its debut on the Official Streaming chart simultaneously.
In the previous month, Lisa’s solo track “Rockstar”debuted at No. 49 on the highly monitored singles chart. She first gained recognition in the U.K. as a solo artist in 2021 with the success of “Lalisa”and “Money”, which both reached the charts and “Money”steadily climbed for two months, nearly reaching the top 40.
Recently, Lisa’s hit song ‘ROCKSTAR’ earned her four nominations at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. These nominations include Best K-pop Song, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, and Best Editing, making her the most nominated K-pop solo artist.
Fans are eagerly voting for Lisa to perform at the 2024 VMAs, where she will become the first K-pop solo artist to do so. This would mark another milestone in her career, following her groundbreaking performance at the 2022 VMAs.
According to Forbes, Lisa from Blackpink has achieved the same number of chart-topping hits in the UK as all of her fellow bandmates combined.
