Lisa held a live broadcast on her social media platform on the 19th to engage with her fans. Throughout the session, she discussed her latest track “NEW WOMAN,”a collaboration with pop sensation Rosalía that was released on the 16th. Lisa joyfully expressed her gratitude for the song’s warm reception, stating, “I’m thrilled that everyone enjoys it. ‘NEW WOMAN’ feels like a dream come true. I had a song that I loved and thought it would be exciting to team up with Rosalía, so I reached out to her. I am incredibly thankful that she accepted the offer.”
Lisa said, “Although ‘NEW WOMAN’ is fantastic, ‘ROCKSTAR’ is my favorite. The beat is incredible. We were fortunate to film the music video in Thailand, and it was a great experience. Despite my busy drama filming schedule, we managed to film the MV.”
She commented, “The Chinatown scene is my favorite. The streets were empty and the rain added a cool effect with its reflections on the ground.”
Lisa had previously stated in an interview that out of all the choreography she has learned, the one for “ROCKSTAR” was the most challenging. She explained that during the shoot, they had to quickly learn moves that involved lying down on the floor and spinning, and then immediately transition into hair and makeup. Despite her body not cooperating, Lisa was proud of the end result and considers “ROCKSTAR”to be her favorite song.
On June 28, Lisa returned to the music scene with her first release under her personal label, LLOUD Co., titled “ROCKSTAR.”The song, which Lisa both wrote and composed, received significant recognition on international charts, peaking at 8th place on the U.S. global Spotify chart.
Despite this, “ROCKSTAR”quickly became caught up in a plagiarism scandal. In the previous month, British music video director Gabriel Mores accused Lisa’s team of reaching out to his editor and using “FE!N”as a source. Mores stated that despite being informed that this was not allowed, Lisa’s team went ahead with it, sparking concerns about the originality of the “ROCKSTAR”music video.
The music video for Travis Scott’s “PAIN” includes a segment in which the camera quickly pans by a group of kids sporting matching bowl haircuts and white ensembles. This scene has been compared to a similar one in the “ROCKSTAR” music video, where Lisa is seen surrounded by individuals with identical hairstyles and white head coverings. These allegations of plagiarism have also been brought to the attention of Thai media, with local outlet Khaosod reporting, “The ‘PAIN’ music video, directed by Moses, and ‘ROCKSTAR’ seem to be nearly identical.”
Currently, Lisa has yet to issue an official statement addressing the allegations. It has been reported that Gabriel Mores has requested for Lisa’s team to respond to the concerns before the end of this month.
