The 2024 International Qualifiers have finalized some teams’ positions and all the invited teams have been revealed. However, it is still unclear which teams will be participating.
Despite the prize pool for the last TI being at an all-time low of $3.3 million, Dota fans were still treated to an epic Grand Finals. The match featured Gaimin Gladiators, who had won three consecutive majors, and Team Spirit, determined to reclaim their former glory in 2021.
Despite the absence of any Majors in the 2024 DPC season, The International remains just as crucial as ever, as teams from all over the globe compete to claim the Aegis.
In the 13th installment of The International, the number of participating teams has been reduced to 16, a decrease from previous editions. Six teams will receive direct invitations based on their performance during the year, while the remaining 10 spots will be filled through the Regional Qualifiers.
The division of slots is as follows: China, South America, Southeast Asia, and Western Europe will each receive two qualifiers, while Eastern Europe and North America will each receive one qualifier. This brings the total number of slots to 10.
The current champions, Team Spirit, have secured their spot through an invitation and are on a quest to win their third Aegis, a first in Dota history. However, Team Falcons have been the standout team of the season, making a name for themselves in the esports world by assembling talented superteams in multiple games.
In Dota 2, the trend continues as a superteam comprised of renowned players such as Malr1ne, Sneyking, Cr1t-, and skiter have dominated this season, claiming victory in the majority of tournaments thus far in the year.
