Lizzo’s Fear Realized: South Park’s ‘The End of Obesity’ Mention

Music sensation Lizzo was mentioned in the recent South Park TV special ‘The End of Obesity,’ prompting her to share her thoughts on TikTok.

The latest special episode of South Park was released on May 24, 2024, featuring the show’s fictional characters discussing the use of prescription drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro for weight loss.

In the episode, Sharon Marsh, the mother of Stan, confided in a friend about her feelings of shame for not being able to exercise and restrict her diet in order to lose weight. She shared that her insurance would not cover Ozempic or Mounjaro as recommended by her doctor, but she had discovered a new medication called Lizzo.

“Have you met Sheila? She told me about a new medication for those who can’t afford Ozempic or Mounjaro,”said Marsh. “I manage my desire to be thinner by taking Lizzo.”

The program then transitioned to a commercial-like segment showcasing Marsh and a small group of individuals, while a narrator provided details about the ‘Lizzo’ medication.

According to the statement, Lizzo, which has been approved by the FDA, promotes a positive body image and self-esteem. In clinical trials, 70% of participants reported feeling less concerned about their weight while taking Lizzo. This product allows individuals to enjoy all types of food while minimizing the need for physical activity.

After discovering her mention in the show, Lizzo turned to TikTok to share her reaction to the clip. “My biggest fear has come true,”she exclaimed. “I’ve been mentioned in an episode of South Park. I’m absolutely terrified.”

Upon viewing the clip, Lizzo appeared visibly taken aback by the reference throughout.

Despite having finished watching, Lizzo was still proud of the overall message portrayed in the reference.

She proudly exclaimed, “I am confident and unapologetically myself. I have set an example for the world on how to embrace self-love and not care about others’ opinions. It’s truly an honor to have this message recognized on a long-standing TV show in Colorado. I will continue to be that bold and fearless individual, inspiring others to do the same.”

In her career, Lizzo has consistently promoted messages of empowerment and taken a stand against body shaming and bullying. In 2023, during one of her performances, she invited a young fan on stage to send a powerful message to her cyberbullies.
