Logan Paul Addresses Shadow Ban Rumors in Japan After Suicide Forest Incident

Despite his controversial actions in Japan’s Aokigahara Forest in 2017, YouTube celebrity Logan Paul has stated that he has not been subjected to a “shadow ban”preventing him from entering the country.

Despite being a controversial figure, Logan Paul has become a highly successful internet star, WWE villain, and entrepreneur. He has achieved success in and out of the wrestling ring, largely due to the immense profitability of his Prime Hydration drink brand.

Despite his current success, seven years ago, his career was not as promising. Following a period of being heavily criticized in 2017, the influencer has managed to regain his position at the top.

In that year, Paul and his friends traveled to Japan and made plans to shoot a video in the Aokigahara Forest, which is notorious for being a site of many self-inflicted deaths and is commonly referred to as the ‘suicide forest’.

Despite the passage of time, the YouTuber’s decision to record the body of a suicide victim in his video still haunts him to this day and has caused public backlash against him.

On August 13, 2024, during an episode of his IMPAULSIVE podcast, Logan was joined by special guest Dominik Mysterio, who shared his recent trip to Japan for WWE’s tour.

Mysterio inquired, “Are you able to go?”

“An exasperated Paul turned to his friends and asked, “Bro, Dom, what do you think this is?”Upon receiving a positive response, he exclaimed, “Yes, I can go to Japan!”

“I wasn’t sure if you were, you know, banned from the community or something,”Mysterio added. “Outcasted.”

Paul clarified, “I am not excommunicado.”

The discussion on this topic begins at 55:23.

It was revealed by Paul’s co-host Mike Majlak that the popular YouTuber has been occupied with other commitments and has not been able to return to Japan. Additionally, Paul himself stated that he had prior commitments that prevented him from joining the WWE tour.

Majlak expressed our desire to visit there, but explained that our plans have been hindered by his busy schedule, leaving him with no time to travel there.

Despite his initial reluctance, Paul eventually opened up about his emotions surrounding his major error in the Land of the Rising Sun. Surprisingly, in a 2022 podcast episode, he even went as far as labeling the incident as the “best thing that ever happened” to him, acknowledging that he required a wake-up call and this experience served as just that.

At the moment, Logan does not seem to have any immediate intentions of returning to Japan. However, he remains a popular heel in the WWE and continues to cause chaos.
