Logan Paul Criticizes Messi’s Drink Brand & Reveals Plans for Prime Hydration Lawsuit

Logan Paul has finally weighed in on the legal action initiated by Mark Anthony International, the distributor behind Lionel Messi’s competing sports drink, Mas+ by Messi, which goes head-to-head with Prime Hydration.

Following the debut of Mas+ in June, dedicated fans of KSI and Logan Paul quickly pointed out the striking similarities between the two drinks and accused it of being a “knockoff.”

On October 8, 2024, Mark Anthony International formally lodged a lawsuit against Prime Hydration, seeking a court ruling to affirm that they have not infringed upon Prime’s design trademarks.

In their legal documents, Mark Anthony argues that the designs are sufficiently distinct, thus alleviating any potential confusion among consumers. They further assert that the marketing strategies employed by the respective influencers differentiate the two brands from one another.

Although Logan and KSI remained silent after the lawsuit surfaced, they eventually shared their perspectives during an episode of Impaulsive on Wednesday, October 23.

“[Messi] is somehow suing us for copying them. How can that even be?” Logan remarked. “We haven’t formally accused him of trademark infringement, but there are discussions occurring behind the scenes that I can’t delve into. Instead of resolving it peacefully, they’ve opted to take it to court.”

He elaborated that many people have been tagging Prime, Logan, and KSI in their social media posts, mistakenly believing that Mas+ by Messi is a version of Prime.

“People think it’s like a Messi-branded Prime, as we sponsor our athletes. They assume it’s just the Spanish version of Prime,” he added. “In Latin America, many perceive it as Messi’s adaptation of Prime, which they think we endorse.”

Mike Majlak, co-host of Impaulsive, inquired if Messi’s drink label merely translates to “more plus.”

“Yeah, it’s sort of ridiculous,” Logan responded.

A voice off-camera then prompted Logan about potential actions regarding the lawsuit.

“We have a strategy in place. I’m confident it will make headlines globally,” he disclosed. “We’ll see how this unfolds.”

The lawsuit from Messi’s beverage brand is the latest in a series of legal challenges faced by Prime Hydration. One prominent case previously alleged that the sports drink contained hazardous levels of “forever chemicals,” but Logan asserted that those claims were dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
