The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has taken action against Logan Paul and KSI for their actions. Prime Hydration is being sued by the organization for supposed trademark infringement.
Despite being relatively new, the sports drink brand Prime Hydration, co-founded by Logan Paul and KSI, has achieved significant success. In fact, it has gained such widespread recognition that it was even featured in a dedicated South Park special.
Prime has successfully partnered with notable individuals such as Mr. Beast and has also sponsored well-known figures like IShowSpeed and the UFC. However, a recent sponsorship agreement with NBA star Kevin Durant has brought some difficulties for both Prime and its owners.
The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee is taking legal action against Prime Hydration for the unauthorized use of trademarked phrases, particularly in regards to promotional materials for the brand’s partnership with Kevin Durant.
Prime’s collaboration with Durant is targeting its biggest rival Gatorade.
In a federal lawsuit filed in the District of Colorado, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee claims that Logan Paul’s company has utilized “Olympic-related terminology and trademarks”in the packaging, online advertisements, and promotions of their product, Prime Hydration, featuring athlete Kevin Durant.
The lawsuit claims that promotional material for Prime Hydration included references to a flavor named after Kevin Durant, called the “Team USA Kevin Durant Drink”and the “Kevin Durant Olympic Prime Drink”. The committee also stated that they had contacted Prime Hydration and asked them to remove any material that may be infringing.
Despite being repeatedly asked by USOPC, Defendant did not comply with the removal of all infringing social media posts stated in the complaint. Furthermore, it was noted that the Defendant continues to actively infringe upon USOPC marks.
“According to the lawsuit, Prime Hydration’s actions have been and continue to be intentional, purposeful, and done in bad faith, with the malicious intention of capitalizing on the reputation of the USOPC and the IOC.”
As of writing this, there has been no comment on the lawsuit from Logan Paul, KSI, or any official Prime Hydration channels.
