LoL Champion’s Return After 3 Years Makes Waves in LCK

After being overlooked by professional League of Legends teams for more than 3 years, Nasus has finally emerged into the spotlight.

There is a noticeable disparity among champions in League of Legends. While some are highly favored in solo queue, they may not be as successful in professional play. Similarly, certain champions excel in pro play but are subsequently nerfed and become unviable in solo queue.

Riot needs to cater to a diverse range of players, which is why there are instances where champions may not meet the expectations of professional gamers. Nasus, for example, has not been picked in any LCK matches since 2021.

The LCK had not seen anyone use Nasus since March of 2021, until the August 8 match between Hanwha Life Esports and OKSavingsBank BRION. The BRION top laner’s decision to choose this champion was a significant moment for the infinitely stacking top laner, marking its return to the league after several months.

Despite being behind in the match against Hanwha Life Esports, BRION’s top laner Morgan made a bold move by selecting Nasus to face Doran’s Kennen. The game began with success for Morgan as Nasus secured the first blood against the opposing top laner.

Despite securing the first blood, Hanwha was unable to prevent their dominance as they defeated BRION in just 23 minutes. Despite Morgan’s four deaths and two kills, their team’s overwhelming victory makes for a decent scoreline.

The early end to the game also prevented Nasus from reaching his power spike in the mid to late game, as he relies on stacking his Q infinitely to reach his full potential. Although Nasus was unable to significantly impact the outcome of the game, this still highlights the fact that any champion can be effective given the right conditions.
