LOONA 1/3 Spotify Gets Hacked — Here’s The Hacker’s Message

A cybercriminal has gained access to LOONA 1/3’s Spotify account and posted a message for anyone intending to listen to the sub-unit.

Ever since 2022, LOONA has been on an indefinite hiatus after all 12 members successfully sued Blockberry Creative. Despite the members signing with different agencies, Blockberry Creative has declared their intention to continue filing lawsuits in order to prevent the members from participating in any entertainment activities within South Korea. As a result, LOONA’s loyal fanbase, known as Orbits, have decided to boycott all of the group’s official music on different platforms to ensure that Blockberry Creative does not receive any royalties.

LOONA 1/3’s Spotify Account Breached by Hackers

On May 2, 2024, it was uncovered that the Spotify account for LOONA 1/3 had been compromised.

LOONA 1/3, comprised of Haseul, Heejin, Hyunjin, and Vivi, was the inaugural sub-unit of LOONA. During their time as a sub-unit, the all-female group dropped two mini-albums: “Love & Live”and its reissue, “Love & Evil.”

Despite being beloved by Orbits, several members have chosen not to stream their music on any platform due to concerns that the streaming royalties will ultimately benefit Blockberry Creative. This has led to a belief among fans that these funds could potentially be used to take legal action against LOONA members. As a result, many fans have opted to download their songs and listen to the MP3 files instead.

Despite this, a portion of individuals continue to listen to their music on Spotify. This is likely due to the fact that they have accumulated over 44,000 monthly listeners on the platform. It appears that one member of Orbit decided they had had enough and took it upon themselves to hack into the group’s Spotify profile and alter their “About”section.

In their “About”section, they advised against streaming any of the group’s songs except for “You and Me Together”and explained that any funds generated from streaming would be used by the company to pursue legal action against the members. They also provided a separate Spotify account featuring LOONA’s complete discography for fans to listen to.

“You and Me Together”stands out as the only track on the album not produced by someone affiliated with Blockberry Creative. This is likely the reason why it has not been included in the boycott.
