During a plane incident that he deemed “unacceptable,” this Love Island UK star came close to death.
Jack Fowler, who won Love Island Games Season 1 and was a contestant on Love Island UK Season 4, faced a near-death experience due to a severe allergic reaction while flying to Dubai.
Following the incident, he utilized Instagram to post photos of himself using an EpiPen and wearing an oxygen mask.
Additionally, he posted a photo of the menu he had ordered from on his Emirates flight, which resulted in his body going into immediate shock.
Despite informing the flight attendants twice of his nut allergy and asking if there were nuts in his chicken curry dish, they reassured him that it was free of nuts.
Despite claims that there were cashews served in his meal, he experienced a severe allergic reaction that caused his throat to close up. In a desperate plea, he begged the flight attendants to make an emergency landing, warning them that failure to do so would result in his death on the plane.
Following his administration of the EpiPen into his leg, he received five tanks of oxygen while being accompanied by a flight attendant.
After Jack’s treatment started to have a positive effect on his body, his friend requested to see the menu. Much to their astonishment, the meal was listed as “creamy chicken curry with cashew nuts.”
Despite placing his “trust” in the flight attendants’ assurance that there were no nuts on board, he later expressed his disappointment with the incident, stating that it was “unacceptable.” He also expressed his hope that his post will serve as a reminder to all those in the airline industry to properly accommodate passengers with food allergies.
After the plane touched down in Dubai, Jack was quickly taken to the hospital situated within the airport. Nevertheless, he observed that the level of care he received was inadequate.
Upon seeing the airline’s decision, Jack’s supporters wasted no time in criticizing the airline through comments, stating their belief that nuts should never be served during a flight due to the numerous potential problems that could arise.
Some also concurred that it was the right decision for him to share his experience in order to prevent similar situations from happening, while another individual suggested that the flight attendant who informed him his meal was nut-free should face consequences.
Despite being unfortunate, viewers remain optimistic that Jack’s warning about his allergic reaction will aid in preventing future accidents.
