On April 18th, the global OTT platform Rakuten Viki reported that tvN’s Mon-Tue drama “Lovely Runner”ranked as the top show in 133 countries during its first week of broadcast. These countries include the US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, India, and more.
The drama on Rakuten Viki has not only achieved a high score of 9.8, but it has also garnered a plethora of positive reviews from viewers. Some viewers have described it as a flawless drama with exceptional acting, a compelling storyline, and incredible chemistry. Others have specifically praised the emotional performances of Kim Hye-yoon and Byun Woo-seok, which have fully immersed them in the love triangle spanning over 15 years.
The plot of “Lovely Runner”follows the story of Ryu Sun-jae (played by Byun Woo-seok), a renowned celebrity who has lost all hope in life, and Im Sol (played by Kim Hye-yoon), a devoted fan who is devastated by his untimely death. In an unexpected twist of events, Im Sol is transported back in time 15 years and is determined to alter destiny and rescue Ryu Sun-jae, who had previously saved her life.
Thanks to the heartwarming romance between Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, “Lovely Runner”has also gained significant popularity in Korea. It quickly rose to second place in TV-OTT drama rankings, according to Good Data Corporation, just one week after its premiere. Additionally, it achieved a viewership rating of 4.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area, as reported by Nielsen Korea.
