Ludwig’s widely recognized “twerkers” emote has recently been removed from Twitch, sparking backlash from the popular content creator against the platform.
Emotes play a significant role in the Twitch streaming ecosystem, allowing creators to enhance their brand identity and forge deeper connections with their audiences. These small, expressive icons are often at the heart of community interactions, laden with memes and inside jokes that can perplex newcomers to the platform.
In a surprising twist, Ludwig announced via an X post (formerly known as Twitter) that his viral “twerkers” emote has been officially taken down by Twitch. He did not hold back in his response to the platform’s decision.
Ludwig’s Outrage Over Emote Removal
In his post, Ludwig shared the official notice he received from Twitch regarding the emote’s removal. The message stated, “Based on a review of its content, we have removed your emote ‘ludwigTwerkers’ from Twitch.”

Ludwig labeled this action as “tyranny in its most potent form,” reflecting his frustration over the decision. As a consequence of this removal, Twitch users are left without access to the popular twerkers emote, eliminating its use in chat and other related interactions.
This incident is not isolated; Twitch has a history of removing emotes that violate its community guidelines. Recently, a Pokémon-themed emote faced a similar fate due to alleged infringements on the platform’s sexual content policies.
While a plethora of alternative emotes remains available for Twitch users to adopt in their chats, Ludwig’s iconic twerkers emote will not make a return without a review or further consideration from the platform. At present, Twitch has not indicated any possibilities for the emote’s reinstatement.
