<p>Sixteen of the top Super Smash Bros Ultimate players from around the globe are preparing to face off at the second Luminosity Invitational in Miami, promising an event packed with thrilling competition.
As the Smash Ultimate competitive calendar nears its conclusion, Luminosity has extended invitations to fourteen skilled players to participate in this prestigious tournament, with two additional slots filled by players who secured their positions through qualifiers.
Kazuki ‘Asimo’ Takeuchi claimed his spot with a fourth-place finish at Supernova and is riding high after his significant victory over the world’s best player, Acola, at Sumabato SP51 using his Ryu.
Joining him is the surprising Bowser Jr. player, David ‘TM7_ZAP’ Krol, who made it into the tournament by winning an online last-chance qualifier, setting the stage for intense competition.

The fourteen invited players are all seasoned veterans of the Smash scene, including notable names like Sparg0, Light, Shuton, Glutonny, Kola, Dabuz, Shinymark, and Genesis 10 champion Zomba.
As anticipated, the Luminosity crew will also be in the mix, featuring talents such as MkLeo, Sonix, Marss, Maister, and Tweek.
Completing the lineup of invitees is Shadic, the reigning champion from the last Luminosity Invitational. The Corrin main has had an impressive year, ranking 7th on the LumiRank 2024.1 leaderboard.
Luminosity Invitational: Back 2 School Schedule
The tournament is set to begin on Friday, September 27, with player introductions at 6:00 PM EST, followed by an exciting crew battle featuring the best players against the Luminosity stars at 6:20 PM.
A special live edition of MkLeo’s GOAT Talk podcast will be hosted at 7:25 PM, and the day’s events will conclude with random doubles starting at 8:30 PM.
On Saturday, the main tournament commences with group stage matches that will determine seedings for the main bracket the following day.
Group A kicks off at 11 AM, featuring competitors Sparg0, Zomba, MkLeo, and TM7_ZAP.
Group B includes Sonix, Shinymark, Light, and Kola, starting at 2:15 PM.
Next, Group C will see Shuton, Tweek, Glutonny, and Marss go head-to-head at 5:30 PM.
Lastly, Group D will commence at 8:45 PM, featuring Shadic, Maister, Asimo, and Dabuz.
On Sunday, the final double-elimination bracket will kick off at 11 AM, promising a full day of exhilarating Smash gameplay.
