MAD Lions Player Released Following 2024 LoL Worlds Disappointment

MAD Lions has parted ways with their mid laner, Fresskowy, almost immediately after the team was eliminated from the 2024 World Championship. His gameplay came under scrutiny, particularly his struggles with Yone, a champion pivotal in the World Championship patch.

As a result, he has been “granted the opportunity to explore options,” a term commonly used when a team is attempting to transfer a player’s contract. His final match with MAD Lions took place on October 7, and he announced his search for a new organization just three days later, on October 10.

Fresskowy made his mark as a rookie in the LEC. Although he has been engaged in competitive League of Legends since 2017, joining MAD Lions meant he had to showcase his skills at a higher level. For much of the season, the expectations for the team appeared bleak.

Their performance in the LEC Winter 2024 began strong with a second-place finish, but they failed to achieve further podiums until the Season Finals, where they landed in third place, securing a spot at Worlds 2024 despite an overall losing record for the year.

This method of qualification faced criticism from LEC fans who were doubtful about MAD’s chances at the international stage. While they progressed past the Play-Ins, MAD Lions ultimately struggled in the Swiss stage, facing a defeat against GAM, a team from Vietnam’s minor region, as they ended without a win.

Despite some notable performances by Fresskowy at Worlds 2024, he was unable to capitalize on opportunities and struggled particularly with Yone, a champion considered strong in the current meta. Consequently, he has been allowed to seek new opportunities.

It’s important to note that Fresskowy’s contract runs until 2026, which means any team interested in acquiring him might face a significant buyout fee.
