Mad Maggie has officially set the record for the longest wait for an heirloom in Apex Legends, leading to growing frustration among the game’s community.
Apex Legends, like many other battle royale games, has delved deeply into cosmetic items. The game continually introduces new character and weapon skins, alongside various other cosmetics such as sprays, emotes, banners, and weapon charms.
However, the most coveted cosmetics in Apex Legends are undoubtedly heirlooms. These melee weapons are inspired by the lore of the character and are released much less frequently than standard skins and other cosmetics, typically appearing once every season.
The prolonged wait for a new heirloom can understandably be frustrating, and it becomes even more aggravating when players find themselves waiting for years, continuously setting new records for the delay.
This is precisely the situation with Mad Maggie. The Australian-voiced legend was introduced in Season 12, and it has now been over 960 days since her release. This surpasses the previous records held by Fuse and Horizon, who waited 959 and 958 days, respectively.
“Please just give us something, Respawn,” pleaded a fan named skwaark, requesting, “I won’t be picky at this point.”
Mad Maggie made her debut back in February 2022.
Other players remarked that the lengthy wait comes as “no surprise,” noting that Maggie “barely” has any skins available in the game.
“I’ve been holding onto Heirloom coins for a year while waiting. It’s never gonna happen,” one player lamented. Another suggested, “Something that is visible when using shotguns would be great.”
One fan even claimed that providing Maggie with an heirloom would be “useless” as running around without a shotgun in hand is akin to “nerfing” oneself.
Mad Maggie’s ability—dubbed Warlord’s Ire—grants players a speed boost when wielding a shotgun, significantly enhancing her gameplay appeal. Thus, neglecting this aspect for an heirloom might be a poor decision. We will have to wait and see what Respawn Entertainment decides to do.
